The old fortress is located by the sea just outside of Corfu town.
I visited with my best friend, we were keen to see the top sights of the island, the old fortress beautiful, it's a walk to the top which can be difficult in the heat in the summer however it is worthwhile for the views and to see the historical buildings up close. Up the top is the old light house, and spectacular views of the whole of corfu Town!

Before beginning my final year of my degree I went on a  day trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia!

Myself and 3 of my friends have been looking for weekend trips to a city, the beautiful historical walls of the city inspired us to visit, also the location being low price to stay. We loved the live music that we could watch and listen in many restaurant's inside the city walls.

The city also offers trips to the island of Lokrum at the port. This is about €12 for a return (leaves regularly). This experience is worth a visit. It is a location which game of thrones has been filmed, the views around the island and at the top where there is an old building this is the Fort Royal Castle which was built by the French and named "Maximilians Tower".
This is a spectacular viewing platform and is open for anyone to enter.

The island also habitats peacocks and bunnies which are wild and wonder freely around the island.
There is also a monastery which has been built in the 15 century, its worthwhile taking a walking tour round the island to see everything. Including the botanical gardens which home exotic plants.
My favourite part of the island is the dead sea river. It's very clear and welcome for a swim.

Earlier in the summer I began my trip to Greece flying to corfu with my bestie Jaca. Every summer I usually visit the peloponnese on mainland Greece to see family and friends and for a summer break. The island of corfu is located North West of Greece and is only an hour trip to igoumenitsa (mainland) and an hour trip to Albania.
I've always wanted to visit Corfu for its historical architecture in particular. It is one of the few islands unaffected by the Ionian earthquake.
Our visit included bike trips around corfu Town, beach days, trips to museums, the old fortress, mouse island (of which we had a beautiful view of from our air bnb room) and my favourite, the Achillion Palace! I found using the audio guide (included in entry fee) to really bring everything to life, and helps you recognise the details. And why these details have been included.

The history and beautiful art, from sculptures to all the adorned walls, ceilings and paintings. There's so much inspiration to draw from this palace.

Tropical wings is one of my favourite zoo's!
It is  located in South Woodham Ferrers - Essex, my mum loves butterflies and as it's got the most beautiful butterfly room with a pond of Koi Carp (you can even get food for them at the entrance). I found this the perfect place to take mum for Mothers day!

They have all the usual, parrots (one of which spoke radio.) Lemurs, Meerkats, porcupine's, otters, African Tortoise, wallaby and many farm animals too!
The thing that makes this zoo so spectacular for me is the butterfly room. I could stay in there all day! If you fancy the butterflies perching on you then just make sure to wear a brightly clothing. My mum was wearing a purple coat which got all of the butterflies attention.

Just the colours of this bird amazes me! The iridescence is just incredible.

I was fascinated by the butterflies movements, I observed the beautiful butterflies and I wondered why they kept moving and not staying on the flowers. I looked closer and noticed they are fluttering as they are drinking nectar. Some of the breeds of butterflies are eating fruit at the zoo which are placed in tin bowls. Whilst the other species drink nectar from the flowers.

If you'r lucky you may even see a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

Make sure to see the meerkats and Otters feed!

Please share your experiences of Tropical Wings or any butterfly gardens in the comments and recommend any other butterfly gardens, I would love to see more!
